I have already tried many methods in the past to cure my eczema. But nothing worked permanently. I tried many steroids in the past to reduce the effect of my skin itchiness and soreness. And as a result my skin became thin and weak gradually. I really lost my confidence and it affected my sleep badly. This was until one of my friends suggested me a really effective home treatment to cure eczema.

I must say, it really works!

So what is this one natural eczema home remedy which changed my life?

But before that, we should know what the real causes of this skin condition are?

They are mainly:

1) Problem in your metabolism process,

2) Different types of allergies,

3) Varicose veins,

4) Lack of nutritional elements in your daily diet,

5) Sudden changes in weather.

These are some of the few reasons which can cause your skin to have diseases like eczema.

So now my secret home remedy which I am about to tell you here!

Use of super foods in your daily diet for optimum nutrition

Do you know that there are some super foods like Chlorella and Spirulina which have the natural capability to provide optimum nutritional values and astonishing health benefits for your body?

These foods have 12 times the digestible protein of beef. They contain natural minerals like magnesium which provides better nourishment for your body.

I used them in my daily diet and I really impressed by the result after few weeks of regular diet. It gradually improved my skin condition. The main reason of my eczema was a lack of proper nutrition which was reduced because of this one natural home remedy.

How to Treat Eczema in the Pubic Region – Conquering This Situation Once and For All

The worse thing about eczema is that it does not choose which area it will appear. It can be on your face, your brows or chest and the most embarrassing situation would be if it develops on your pubic region. Imagine yourself feeling the unstoppable itchy situation in public but you cannot scratch right there and then because people will see. They might think the worst kind of thing like you have an STD. No matter what you do, you just can’t go relieve the itchiness through scratching in public.

The whole situation of pubic region eczema makes the most ordinary task very hard to handle. You grow wearier each day because it gets worst everyday. Fortunately, there are tons of ways to relieve yourself from the stress of avoiding to scratch without being embarrassed and without compromising your self-esteem in front of other people.

As we all know, there are a lot of topical creams and medicines that you can purchase out there in the market and the great thing is that all of them work in wondrous but similar ways. You can opt for topical steroids with antihistamine so that you can stop from scratching or go for natural products. But, believe me that topical antihistamine creams work fast and best. You only have to apply it twice in a day. Apply it once in the morning after you take a bath (just make sure that the area is clean and already dry before you apply it) and once in the evening before you retire to bed (also, make sure that the area is clean and dry).

If you want to go all fresh and natural, this might be a little hard to do especially when you are dealing with the pubic region. You will worry that in between the day you will experience the itchy feeling again. At least with the topical antihistamine, it works for at least 8-12 hours depending on the current situation that you are in. Therefore, I advice you to take the route of prescription or over the counter topical antihistamine creams so that you can avoid the itchiness in public.

Aside from the treatment creams, you also have to maintain a certain balance in everything including your diet, hygiene and exercise. You should remain to be physically fit because this will boost your immune system especially now that you have this skin condition. Avoid foods (like spicy ones) that can trigger eczema in the first place and maintain proper hygiene at all times. This means that you have to shower everyday and make the pubic region extra clean. Make sure that the area is dry and free from moist because moisture can trigger the itchiness as well.

Cream For Eczema – The Different Types and How They Can Work

I am often asked if there is a cream for eczema that will provide relief for anyone suffering the condition. There is not really a straightforward answer to this question as there are a range of different creams that have varying properties and which work in different ways.

It is important to note that I am referring only to creams and not to lotions. Generally speaking, lotions contain alcohol in sufficient volume that it can ultimately lead to drying of the skin surface. The majority of ointments and creams for eczema do not contain alcohol and are therefore appropriate for relieving skin irritations.

There are various types of herbal cream for eczema including aloe vera gel that will relieve inflammation and related skin conditions. Another option is calendula cream that will soothe damaged skin and remove any redness. Marshmallow root cream can also work to assist protection of the skin and by preventing localized skin infection. Witch hazel cream can also be effective in relieving inflammation associated with skin conditions.

Nonsteroidal creams are also available to treat eczema issues. One option is TriCeram cream which contains ceramides. This substance has been identified as being in low levels in the skin of children that have eczema. Ceramides works as a type of barrier to protect the skin from infection. Natural lipids are also vital to protect the skin and this is a component of TriCeram. It will reduce dryness and help to repair damaged skin. It assists the skin with getting back to it’s normal condition without the need for steroids. It can be used over a prolonged period, if necessary, and is safe to apply on children of all ages.

Antihistamine cream is another possible option. Usually this is in the form of diphenhydramine cream which can be applied to any affected area to limit itchiness. Most people are used to taking antihistamines orally or by injection although they can make people very tired. Topical antihistamines do not have the same side effect. Just note that Diphenhydramine cream may be known by a specific brand name if you are looking for it or asking a pharmacist.

You can also obtain hydrocortisone cream for eczema. These are normally mild enough to be applied on the face and to sensitive skin. Use it two to three times per day and it should assist with reducing any inflammation. You should still apply other skin care options, like avoiding hot baths and not wearing certain types of fabric. Hydrocortisone cream is intended for shorter term usage as it can thin the skin surface over time.

A medical professional may prescribe a stronger type of corticosteroid cream like Diprolene. This is generally reserved for more severe cases as it gets deeper into the skin. It will help to protect against inflammation while also assisting with the healing process. There are also some powerful, fluorinated corticosteroid creams that could be prescribed. It is important to only use these for a short amount of time as they can do significant damage if used for prolonged periods.

What Kind of Eczema Treatment Can You Expect?

Eczema, a term used by most people to refer to Atopic Dermatitis, is an incurable disease which affects the skin. Although sure is not a possibility, there are things you can do to control the symptoms.

These things are a combination of medical attention and at home care. It is important for you to see a dermatologist when symptoms first appear as treating as early as possible helps you to keep your symptoms to a minimum and often makes the flare up period much shorter than it would be otherwise.

No matter how much you read about skin conditions, it is important that you understand a doctor diagnosis is important for you to plan the proper care for your condition. Many skin conditions resemble each other, while some are extremely painful and aggravating, others are caused by something else wrong in your body and can be fatal when not treated.

There are also a number of skin conditions that are curable, unlike eczema. A dermatologist can diagnose your skin condition through various tests, allowing him to give you the proper treatment and allowing you to learn the correct way to care for your condition at home.

Your dermatologist will need to know: when the symptoms first appeared in your lifetime; all of the symptoms (itching, pain, blistering, fever, etc); he will also need to know things that seem to make the symptoms worse (such as, whether washing makes the itching worse); whether you family has any history of skin conditions, hay fever, or asthma; and your own medical history.

When visiting the dermatologist, be prepared for him to order a biopsy. This is a normal procedure when dealing with skin conditions and does not necessarily mean that he thinks you have cancer. Do not let yourself stress over this test, especially since stress tends to worsen symptoms. He may also suggest that you have allergy testing done.

Possible Treatments:

Treatments are based on several factors: what kind of eczema you have, how bad it is, your age and medical history, and results of past treatments. Remember that treatment is a way to manage symptoms, not cure the disease. Moisturizing with creams (not most lotions because they can cause even more drying) are usually used with any treatment plan.

Treatment plans are also modified on an individual basis as you and your doctor know and understand more about triggering factors in your case.

First, if the dermatologist finds another condition, such as bacterial, viral, or fungal infections, he will prescribe a medicine to get rid of the infection. Antibiotics will be prescribed for bacterial infections, antiviral are prescribed for viral infections and antifungals will conquer fungal infection.

These may be applied to the skin, taken by mouth, or given in a shot, depending on the type as severity of the infection.

Treatment usually begins with topical medications which may or may not be coupled with antihistamines. Topical treatments are applied to the skin and are usually a cream which comes in a tube.

Most are members of the corticosteroid family of medicine. It is very important, as with any medication, to follow your doctor instructions. Too few applications will not give you much benefit and too many applications can cause thin skin. Some of the corticosteroids include:

Aclovate

Aristocort

Cormax

Cutivate

Cyclocort

Decadron

Dermatop

DesOwen

Diprolene

Diprosone

Elocon

Halog

Hytone

Kenalog

Lidex

Locoid

Psorcon

Synalar

Temovate

Topicort

Tridesilon

Ultravate

Valisone

Westcort

The newest form of topical medication is the topical Immunomodulators (TIMs). These do not have steroids in them, so they do not have the problems with thin skin that corticosteroids do. Elidel and Protopic are both TIMs.

If topical medications do not produce acceptable results, you may have to move to another phase of treatment. Other phases include phototherapy, in which you will be treated with UV rays, directed by either laser or sunlamps.

The UV light is focused on the symptomatic area which has had a medication applied to help the process. Beyond phototherapy, you may have to begin systemic treatments. These are medications which are taken into the body, whether by mouth or shot.

You will also find that you have several things you will need to do in your life to help minimize flare ups. Moisturizing, stress relief, avoiding allergens and avoiding irritants are a few of these things.

Ear Piercing Causes Eczema

Ear piercing is very popular these days, this has been influenced a lot thanks to changing fashion statements. Ear piercing is expected to get much more popular. Atopic eczema has also become very common but very few studies have dealt with the idea that ear piercing itself could be responsible for causing eczema.

Ear piercing involves putting a hole in your ear and then putting a piece of metal through it. This leads to contact with heavy metals like nickel and cobalt. It is strictly advisable to do the piercing under perfectly hygienic conditions. Even after the piercing is finished, there are some precautions that you should follow.

Atopic eczema is triggered by certain allergens in affected people. An exposure to a certain material could trigger eczema, could a metal such as nickel trigger eczema?

Scientists have researched whether nickel can cause a trigger for atopic eczema. In an experiment on 960 young girls it is found that around 13% of those who got their ears pierced, went on to develop allergic skin reactions. Of the same sample, only 1% of those who did not get their ears pierced had eczema. Similarly, in an study on 520 young Swedish men doing compulsory military service, it is found that hypersensitivity to nickel and cobalt is higher (in 8% men) among those who got piercing. In contrast only 2.7% of those who did not get their ear pierced developed eczema. In another study on 424 Norwegian schoolchildren aged between 7-12 years, 89 children had their ears pierced and 79 developed skin allergies to metallic jewellery, which is a whopping 88% of those who had their ears pierced! These studies statistically relate ear piercing consisting of nickel and cobalt to atopic eczema, and establish the metals as allergens to a significant percentage of the population.

It is possible to protect yourself from allergic reactions, first you should start by visiting your doctor for an allergen test. If you discover that you are not allergic to nickel then it should be ok to go ahead and have your ears pierced.

Another less obvious reason for skin allergies after getting ear pierced might not actually be the metal, it could be the latex gloves that are worn by the person that pierces your ear. If you believe you are allergic to latex or rubber, then you should request that the person uses a pair of gloves made out of a different material. Since children have showed very high susceptibility towards possible nickel sensitization (88% as compared to 13% among adult men) it can be seen that children are much more sensitive, and so extreme care should be taken when considering piercing your child’s ears. For people suffering from diabetes, epilepsy, hypertension, heart disease or hemophilia, it is important to seek your doctor’s approval before even considering piercing your ears.

Good skin health is far more important than just making a fashion statement. After all a face full of rash doesn’t make a good fashion statement anyway! With a little precaution and restraint it is possible to prevent developing atopic eczema.

Citronella (Cymbopogon nardus) is in the grass family (Poaceae or Gramineae) and is obtained through steam distillation of the leaves. It is a tall, aromatic, perennial grass found in Sri Lanka. Many will recognize this fragrance since it is used widely as an insect repellant. However, it has many powerful properties.

Traditionally many cultures have used this oil to treat intestinal parasites, menstrual problems, and it has been used as a stimulant. For centuries it has been used for sanitizing and deodorizing surfaces. It is used in Chinese traditional medicine for rheumatic pain.

Today we consider citronella to be a powerful antioxidant, antibacterial, antifungal, insect-repellent, anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, and anti worms. Bugs simply don’t like its fragrance. But did you know that it is also good for respiratory infections, muscle/nerve pain, digestive and intestinal problems, anxiety, skin problems like acne, eczema, and oily skin?

Citronella’s mail effect is that of being an insect repellent and as an anti-infectious agent. Citronella can be diluted one part essential oil to one part mixing oil. It can be diffused, directly inhaled, or even taken as a dietary supplement. Citronella mixes well with cedarwood for insect repelling. It also mixes well with geranium, lemon, bergamot, orange, and pine.

Citronella is non-toxic, non-irritant but may cause dermatitis in some individuals.

To learn more about Citronella and other essential oils you might want to consider becoming a certified aromatherapist. Educational courses in healing energy and aromatherapy can help you understand how essential oils heal the body/mind/spirit.

Blistering Eczema Causes, Prevention, Relief & Cure

A common skin problem experienced by millions of people each year, eczema is defined by a wide range of symptoms. One of the most painful of these symptoms is blisters. These sensitive and painful blemishes occur in the early stages of many different forms of the skin condition and can cause the patient severe discomfort. Read below to find useful facts about blistering eczema.

What is it?
Although not a specific form of the disease, blistering eczema is the term given when blisters or papules occur within a breakout of eczema. These blisters are often painful, and show up in the form of tiny fluid filled sacs. To make matters worse, blistering eczema often contains the other more common symptom of itching as well. However, since blisters are present, itching and scratching is out of the question making a person’s condition quite unbearable.

Why Does It Happen?
When an individual scratches or itches the eczema that is already present on their body, they leave themselves open to infection. When an infection does occur, it can form the fluid infection filled sacs or blisters. This generally occurs in the early stages of an eczema breakout when the skin seems to be the most irritated.

Blistering eczema is most commonly seen with the Dyshidrotic and Nummular forms of eczema, though it can be seen with contact forms as well. Dyshidrotic eczema is known for its deep blisters which occur within the first three days, and Nummular eczema can have blisters that are as large as a coin.

How Can You Prevent It?
In order to avoid getting blistering eczema in most cases, you must focus on avoiding the trigger for your particular type of eczema. In some cases this can be stress related, while in other instances it is caused by trigger foods. Other individuals have other conditions which trigger eczema, and many individuals contract eczema simply by coming in contact with an irritating substance or plant.

Avoiding whatever triggers your particular form of eczema will allow you to prevent the blisters that accompany the condition. Taking care of and treating your skin condition as soon as it is visible can also help you to avoid contracting blistering eczema as well.

Is There a Cure?
Luckily there is a cure for blistering eczema, and the pain that is associated with it. In many cases, the blisters will subside after a few days or even a week. In other cases, it is necessary to treat the area with a topical cream, or to take an oral medication.

Eczema And Allergies

Allergies to cow’s milk, soy products, eggs, seafood, and wheat are the primary food products that may either bring on or worsen eczema symptoms. Animal dander, rough fabrics, and dust are the leading allergens that are in the environment surrounding us.

With food allergies, if symptoms of eczema or stomach unrest show up immediately (within the hour) it is often concluded that therein lays the cause of the problem. In most instances allergy testing will prove positive as the source of the disturbance. Once a particular food can be identified as a trigger of eczema allergies, it can be avoided and maybe a reduction in the allergies will result.

Oftentimes in children eczema allergies do not reveal themselves so readily as to flare up when the offensive food is eaten. It may take several hours to several days for any type of reaction to occur. The offending food groups are usually dairy product, soy and wheat. With delayed immune reactions many times allergy testing produces no conclusive results.

Testing for eczema allergies rarely produce positive results. This means that allergens are able to do a good job of hiding themselves from the eyes of technicians that are looking to identify the specific cause of a problem. The most reliable source of finding the eczema allergy in these instances depends on recognizing a pattern of flare-ups or problems in response to food that may have been eaten over the previous few days. This occurrence usually happens in children and the delayed reaction phenomenon usually goes away by the age of three.

While many children do in fact have food allergies, in most instances food allergies do not cause eczema in children. What food allergies actually do is make eczema worse.

In many instances when trying to treat eczema allergies, a caretaker should consider the salves and ointments that he is using as an eczema treatment. The treatments being used can be the source of aggravation. When the skin is unusually dry creams should be avoided in favor of a bath related eczema allergy treatment. Lanolin is usually the ingredient that causes a problem. A good idea is to avoid any products containing lanolin. It is best to also avoid every product that contains coloring, perfumes, bubble baths and related bath products. A more exhaustive list of known irritants can be found at http://www.EczemaBathSalts.com, look for link to the irritant page.

Moisturizers usually do a good job of eradicating eczema. A relationship is noticeable between the amount and speed of healing and the duration and severity of exposure to the offensive or allergy causing eczema trigger. If you are medicating your eczema and finding no relief, then maybe the source of the eczema has yet to be uncovered.

This is primarily due to the fact that the winter air results in dry skin and that the heating of our homes can continue this process. Eczema can be quite itchy and often the skin has red bumps, pink patches, inflammation and sometimes leaking of fluid. The skin can also get further compromised due to scratching it, leading to an infection.

Eczema During the Winter – Is Your Rash More Severe?

If you suffer from an eczema rash, it may be more aggravated during the winter months.

During the winter, unlike the summer, people do not carry a bottle of water around with them. In the summer, people bring water to sports events, work and school and remember to stay hydrated. In the winter, we often drink tea and have less water, preferring to have hot drinks to warm up. However, it’s easy to get dehydrated or to be having less water intake . This can encourage eczema bumps and patches.

There is also a tendency to moisturize less during the winter months. Moisturizing is very important to eczema skin healing. In the summer because one wears shorts, people pamper their bodies more and this includes moisturizers. When you do moisturize, also remember to use a lotion that is for sensitive skin. Check ingredients as alcohol can dry out your skin and is in a number of skin moisturizing lotions.

In your home use a humidifier to add moisture back into the air. If you don’t have one, place little bowls of water in each room and refill them. Forced, hot air heating can be very drying. After you shower or bathe, remember to moisturize right away to lock it in. Use sensitive skin products as stronger ones can strip body oils. Keep the water temperature warm and don’t spend a long time in the shower. In the winter, it’s easy to double the time we take a shower due to the wanting to postpone the cold air impact when we come out of it.

Taking these steps will help you to retain moisture in your skin. Don’t give in to scratching but use anti-itch creams and antihistamines to avoid getting a bacterial infection or increasing the rash.

Homemade Remedy For Eczema – Discovering the Amazing Healing Effects

A good homemade remedy for eczema has multiple benefits, least of all is the cost. There are certain protocols though that you must observe when making your homemade eczema remedy. First would be care in choosing your raw materials. Second, you need to keep your hands and equipment clean and sanitized at all times. Third, recognize that although made at home, you still can take traditional medicines if it would make you feel better.

That being said, here are some very effective homemade remedies you can try. It would be best to do a small test batch at a time, because herbal remedies respond differently to people. In other words, what may work for your sister or brother, may not necessarily work for you.

Find some mustard oil and add neem leaves to it over a fire. Boil this mixture for about 10 minutes. When this is done, strain the neem leaves and store the mixture. Use this mixed oil to apply on the areas where you feel itchy. The downside of this remedy is finding the neem leaves. These are leaves that come from India and other southeast countries. It has been used for decades in treating many ailments, including eczema. In fact, this very same oil mixture can be used for chickenpox. Fortunately, with the convenience of internet, you can buy neem leaves online.

Another homemade remedy for eczema is oatmeal. You can either apply it straight to the affected areas, or even take an oatmeal bath, if you want to cover a large area. When using oatmeal, care has to be taken to avoid rubbing oatmeal on your skin. Just allow the oatmeal to gently cover the area. It can be too abrasive if you rub your skin down with oatmeal.

The point of using a home remedy for eczema is to moisturize dry skin. This is why another remedy would be water – ice or warm water. If you decide to use ice, make sure to wrap the ice in a towel. Never apply ice directly onto your dry skin. This is because it could cause blisters or sores.

Keep in mind that home remedies are not cures. They are treatments that will ease the itchiness and dryness of your skin. Do not expect a miracle cure. At present, there is no cure. However, most children and adults outgrow eczema and often it does not come back anymore.
