Eczema And Allergies
Allergies to cow’s milk, soy products, eggs, seafood, and wheat are the primary food products that may either bring on or worsen eczema symptoms. Animal dander, rough fabrics, and dust are the leading allergens that are in the environment surrounding us.
With food allergies, if symptoms of eczema or stomach unrest show up immediately (within the hour) it is often concluded that therein lays the cause of the problem. In most instances allergy testing will prove positive as the source of the disturbance. Once a particular food can be identified as a trigger of eczema allergies, it can be avoided and maybe a reduction in the allergies will result.
Oftentimes in children eczema allergies do not reveal themselves so readily as to flare up when the offensive food is eaten. It may take several hours to several days for any type of reaction to occur. The offending food groups are usually dairy product, soy and wheat. With delayed immune reactions many times allergy testing produces no conclusive results.
Testing for eczema allergies rarely produce positive results. This means that allergens are able to do a good job of hiding themselves from the eyes of technicians that are looking to identify the specific cause of a problem. The most reliable source of finding the eczema allergy in these instances depends on recognizing a pattern of flare-ups or problems in response to food that may have been eaten over the previous few days. This occurrence usually happens in children and the delayed reaction phenomenon usually goes away by the age of three.
While many children do in fact have food allergies, in most instances food allergies do not cause eczema in children. What food allergies actually do is make eczema worse.
In many instances when trying to treat eczema allergies, a caretaker should consider the salves and ointments that he is using as an eczema treatment. The treatments being used can be the source of aggravation. When the skin is unusually dry creams should be avoided in favor of a bath related eczema allergy treatment. Lanolin is usually the ingredient that causes a problem. A good idea is to avoid any products containing lanolin. It is best to also avoid every product that contains coloring, perfumes, bubble baths and related bath products. Moisturizers usually do a good job of eradicating eczema. A relationship is noticeable between the amount and speed of healing and the duration and severity of exposure to the offensive or allergy causing eczema trigger. If you are medicating your eczema and finding no relief, then maybe the source of the eczema has yet to be uncovered.
